Age 83

Pearl F. Long, 83, of Cadmus Street, East Liverpool, Ohio died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at home following a brief illness.

She was born in Salem, Ohio on April 15, 1920, the daughter of the late William and Ellen McElroy Greene.

Mrs. Long, a lifelong resident, worked as a waitress at the former Elite Diner, retiring in 1983. She belonged to the Ohio City Rebekkah # 782, the East Liverpool Area Senior Citizens, Pride of the Valley #4 of Daughters of America, 53 Club, American Legion Auxiliary #374 and DAV Auxiliary #47. She attended the Grace Presbyterian Church and volunteered at the Veterans Clinic in East Liverpool.

Her husband, Kenneth Long, whom she married July 29, 1939, died July 10, 1968.

She is survived by a son, Walter C. Long and his wife Loretta of East Liverpool, OH; two daughters, Dolores Long at home and Doris Reese and her husband, Donald of Chester, WV; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and her faithful companion, Baby.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Long, two brothers, Wilmer Greene and Howard Greene and a sister, Thelma Schwechlik.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, June 21, 2003 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Allan Drake of the church, officiating.

Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery in Salem, Ohio.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta today, Friday, June 20, 2003 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 553 Virginia Street, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
