VOLPE, Paul Francis, 15, of McColloch Drive, Wheeling, WV died quietly early Saturday morning, August 31, 2002, in Washington D.C.
Paul Francis was born March 16, 1987, in Wheeling, WV, to the blessed parents, Catherine and Louis Volpe. Besides his parents, he grew up in a happy home with four sisters who played and sang with him: Genevieve, Gretchen, Emily, and Kate. He loved playing chess with his friend Quenton Northcraft, reading National Geographic, playing Mozart, playing "Red Alert" and "Starcraft", firing homemade rockets at the Oglebay Park soccer field; and having parties twice a year with his five good friends: Doug Sgroi, Brad Ryczko, Steve Przybysz, Scott Fike, and Aaron Dailer.
Besides his immediate family, Paul leaves two cousins, Alex and Daniel Maher, who were his companions every summer; his Uncle Paul and Aunt Nan; his cousins Ben and Jessie; his Aunt Cookie and Uncle Kevin; his grandfather and namesake, Paul Volpe; his "Gram", Helen Morrison; his Uncle Barry; his Aunt Marion and cousins, Sarah and Michael; and his many friends from St. Michael Parish and School and Central Catholic High School who knew him and admired his courage.
Friends will be received at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1225 National Road, Wheeling, on Tuesday from 6:30pm to 9pm and Wednesday from 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm, with a vigil service at 7:30 pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 am with the Rev James Sobus as celebrant. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to St. Michael Parish School.

Dear Catherine and Lou ~

Words cannot express my heart felt sympathy for you, the girls, your family and the entire Wheeling Community on this great loss. There are many words of great wisdom that could help you through this difficult time… to hell with them, you’re probably sick of hearing them anyway. The best words I can give to you now is that you are loved and my prayers are constantly with you during your search for understanding and peace. Please consider this as my “virtual” hug and kiss! Love to all, Lynne.

Dear Family & Friends of Paul,

You are in my prayers during this most difficult time. As much love and happiness that Paul brought to those he met, we are still saddened by his death. We take comfort in knowing that God has called Paul home and freed him from his pain.

I am honored to have had the pleasure of teaching Paul in the sixth grade. I am also blessed to have learned from Paul. He was an outstanding student and a couragous young man!

May you be comforted by your Christian faith, the love you shared and fond memories that you cherish.

May God’s Healing Hand Comfort You,

MarySue Szymialis

Mrs. Volpe, please find comfort in the eyes of Paul’s siblings, and your husband. He is a great man. Mere words cannot convey what our hearts truly feel for your family.
