Patsy Joseph Cataldo
Age 81
Patsy Joseph Cataldo, 81of Crawford Road, Wellsville, died Monday, March 12, 2001 at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Wellsville, OH April 12, 1919, a son of the late Dan and Catherine Natale Cataldo.
Mr. Cataldo retired from the former Crucible Steel mill where he was a roller in the tandem mill. In 1983, he retired after working 45 years. He was a member of Immacualte Conception Church in Wellsville, the American Legion Post 121 in Chester, WV and the Hillcrest Community Club. Mr. Cataldo enjoyed working in his garden and raising beef cattle and chickens. He served four years in the US Army during World War II in Company H, 81st Division, 5th Armored Division. He later transfered to Camp Cook Medical Hospital in California then was sent to the 128th Station Hospital in New Guinea, as a orderly, then to Japan till the end of the war.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Pethtel Cataldo, a daughter Cynthia Ann Black of Wellsville, three grandchildren: Randy Coil, Jeremy Coil and Candace McFall; six brothers: John Cataldo of Gulf Port, FL, Emil Cataldo of Wellsville, OH, Sam Cataldo of Gulf Port, FL, Dan Cataldo of Wellsville, OH, Albert Cataldo of Gulf Port, FL and Bill Cataldo of Wellsville, OH; four sisters: Rose Ulizio of Midland, PA, Josephine Volino of East Liverpool, OH, Frances Hipsley of Wellsville, OH and Mary Ciranellio of Poland, OH.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Tony Cataldo and Joe Cataldo.
Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Thursday, March 15, 2001 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Father Bernard Gaeta of the church officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Wellsville on Wednesday, March 14, 2001 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
