11/16/1934 - 04/18/2015

Page Morrison of Newport News, VA died peacefully at Riverside Hospital in the early morning hours of April 18, 2015. Page was born Leone Page Callis to the late Annie Leone Daniel Callis and Rupert Leslie Hardy Callis on November 16, 1934 on her beloved Gwynn’s Island, VA. She was one of 4 children, Ruby Lena, Leslie Stuart and Nancy Lee. Her school age years began at Gwynn’s Island Elementary School. Each school day she walked to and from school with her cousin, neighbor, classmate and best friend, Shirley Gillis as well as a host of other classmates who also attended Gwynn’s Island Elementary. Page attended Mathews High School and graduated salutatorian of her Senior Class in 1952. After graduation Page attended Madison College where she was a Dean’s List student all 4 years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Minor in Social Science in 1956. After graduation she taught 3rd grade for the Princess Anne County School system. It was there she met the love of her life, a handsome young Army Officer from Schroon Lake, NY, Robert C. Morrison, a graduate of Norwich University, who was stationed at Fort Story, Virginia. Bob and Page would marry on November 16, 1963 at Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church. Married for 51 years, Bob and Page would raise their 2 dear children, Ron and Cindy, traveling in and out of many duty stations including a special move for the family from 1978-1981 to Heidelberg, Germany where Bob worked in logistics for NATO. Possessing a true servant’s heart which was essential as a military wife, Page faithfully cared for her family through many moves with her husband and children, where she held life together through her delicious cooking and unconditional love. A woman of faith and the heart of the Morrison family, Page shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leone and Hardy Callis, her sister Ruby Lena Nelsen, brother in law, Darvin Nelsen, brother, Leslie Stuart Callis, sister in law Gloria Callis and her mother in law, Lucille Morrison. Her surviving family members include her loving husband of 51 years, Robert C. For each thorn, there’s a rosebud…

For each twilight — a dawn…

For each trial — the strength to carry on,

For each storm cloud — a rainbow…

For each shadow — the sun…

For each parting — sweet memories when sorrow is done.

…. Ralph Waldo Emerson

For some moments in life there are no words. Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
