Norma Hartman Roberts

Farmville, VA- Norma Hartman Roberts was born on May 8, 1910 in Norfolk, VA and died on October 26, 2001. She was the eldest child of Pern Cowling Hartman, Sr. and Norma Jennings Hartman. She was the wife of the late John Marshall Roberts, Jr.

She attended Maury High School and graduated as salutatorian from the then new Norview High School in 1928. After graduating from Norfolk Business College, she became secretary for Taylor Steamship Line, an importing company.

After retiring as secretary of Second Presbyterian Church, she volunteered as executive secretary to the director of the Norfolk Mental Health Clinic, then did office work for WHRO, and finally helped deliver Meals-On-Wheels. She was a teacher and active member of Larchmont Baptist church for over 30 years.

She is survived by her children, John Marshall Roberts, III of Norfolk and Judy Roberts Womack of Farmville and her son-in-law Charles Womack, III;

her two grandsons, Michael Charles Womack and John Marshall Womack and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Monday at 2:30 pm in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk by Reverend Peg Buelow of Hampton.
