Nancy Carmel O’Leary Regele, 95, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Tuesday, February 17th, 2015 in the comfort of her home. Nancy was born October 17th, 1919 in the Warwood neighborhood of Wheeling, WV. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy and the Elliot School of Business. After completing her education, she served several local businesses in clerical capacities. Nancy was a member of the St. Michael Parish community, the Christian Mothers’ Association, and the Wheeling Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Regele was also an active member of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Auxiliary. As demonstrated by both her demeanor and community involvement, Mrs. Regele’s faith was central to her life. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Dennis P. and Sallie Gallagher O’Leary, her sister Sara G. O’Leary, brothers Arthur F. and Sylvanus O’Leary, her brother and sister-in-law Lawrence and Ada O’Leary, and by her husband Charles E. Regele Sr.
Mrs. Regele is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sally G. and Frank Scenna Jr. of Wheeling, as well as by her sons Charles Jr. of Renton, WA, and Dennis M. of Wheeling, WV. She will be remembered fondly by her nephew Larry and his wife Theresa O’Leary of Costa Mesa, CA, as well as by her niece Beth O’Leary and husband Ed Anderson of Columbus, OH. Nancy will be greatly missed by her granddaughter Christina Scenna of Pittsburgh, PA, her granddaughter Nikole Regele and husband Bill Henderson of Waterford, CT, as well as by her great-granddaughters Caitlyn and Cristin Henderson also of Waterford, CT, and by eight great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Regele’s family would like to thank Dr. John Holloway and the Visiting Nurse Services of Wheeling Hospital for their compassionate care and support. Friends received 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 in St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Thomas Gallagher as celebrant.
Entombment in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Wheeling. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Parish, 1226 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003 and the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Wheeling Center, 137 Mount St. Joseph Road, Wheeling, WV 26003.

I have known Nancy for many years and worked with her at Horne’s in Wheeling. She was one of the sweetest, kindest loveable persons I knew. I send my condolences and prayers to all members of Nancy’s family. May she rest in peace after living such a wonderful life.

My husband and my family have cherish the 5yrs that we had with Nancy she was a gem. I loved most of when she had a birthday she invited all neighbor hood kids to her party which her Mom wasn’t planning on having but had because Nancy done invited the neighborhood kids so cute. Love you
