Anut Kata, Terry, John, and Jeannine,

I am so sorry for your loss. Sometimes it is hard to find the right words to say but I want you all to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. It just seems like yesterday I was always staying at your house doing goofy things. I only knew Sam as a little boy but I know he came from a wonderful family and that he was a wonderful person. May God be with you in a very special way during this time of mourning. My prayers are with you. Love, Diana Flor

Dear Snively Family,

I am sorry if my words and thoughts are at a loss. What could I say about this Great Man that you have not already read. I met Sam when I was 19 years old. I was a young Crewchief from Pleasantville, Iowa. He took me under his wing, and helped me develope into the man I am today. It’s been over ten years, since I met the son of a Coalminer! I miss the day’s of working on the flightline until we were deliriously tired, trying to stay awake by quoting “Scent of a Woman”! I could write a book about all the laughs, all the good times, and memories of the 309th Squadron Video. I will celebrate and miss this great man’s legacy! My thoughts and prayers are with you….We miss you “No Jive” Snive! You made me the type of Mentor I am today!

I just found out about Patricks’ passing…I had no idea. I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Patrick back in 1995, he was a great man and a wonderful friend. What I remember most was his humor and his inner strength and determination to be best at everything he pursued. I learned much from him and I will never forget our relationship, however short it was. Rest peacefully Patrick, The world misses you.

I just found out today about this great loss this country had in 2008. I have taken it pretty hard. MSgt Snively was a mentor and one I looked up to while I was a young NCO in the USAF. After working one day we started talking about the small towns we were from. It was then we realized we were from the same area of Ohio. We laughed so hard and reminisced of our towns. We talked of a bar we were to have drinks at in Mingo Junction, Ohio when I retired. I am totally at a loss of words of how I feel right now knowing I cannot have that drink with him. I can truly say, I am the man I am today due to his influence on my life

I met Sam in 1994 while we were both stationed at “The Kun” Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea. We have been close friends ever since that time. We shared a love of sports especially weight lifting and the Air Force. Sam was filled with such wisdom based on his own life experiences. He was truly a generous soul who would do anything for his friends and family. He loved his children deeply and I know will be an angel by their side forever. I will truly miss my friend, Sam. May his family have peace knowing that he is no longer suffering or in pain. We will join him in heaven when it is our time. Until then, may we be thankful that we had him in our lives this long.

I will always remember Sam as a guy that worked for his troops, tried more than anyone to keep up morale, even at his own expense. Football Saturdays at his house, his new Cadillac he was so proud of, pot-lucks on night shift, card night at work on Thursdays. He was a great leader and an even better friend. That is one guy I am sad to see go. Thanks for everything Sam, you will be missed. Once a duck, always a duck. Always remember NO JIVE-SNIV!

Master Sergeant “Sam” Snively was a great person and friend. We most certainly will miss his sense of humor and zest for life. I mostly directly recall seeing him often working out on base. I had the fortunate opportunity of working with Sam in the 309 AMU, Luke AFB, AZ.

God Bless all of his friends and family.

MSgt. Snively was my first production super when I got out to the 61st. He always made me feel like I was part of the squadron. He was a great cook, we always had a potluck on Thursday nights just for his midshift workers…and he always made us laugh. He was a good man and a good friend he will be dearly missed.
