RIEDEL, Morris, 84, of Wheeling WV, died Friday, December 5, 2008 at Wheeling Hospital. Born in Wheeling on May 14, 1924, Morris was the son of the late Edward and Lula Lehew Riedel. He was a member of the former Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and was a current member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wheeling. Morris was a retried Chief Draftsman for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation and was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, Morris was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn James Riedel. Surviving are four sons, Richard A. Riedel and his wife Diana of Scottsdale AZ, Thomas E. Riedel and his wife Tracy of Martins Ferry OH, Christopher A. Riedel and his wife Lisa of Moundsville, and Michael J. Riedel and his wife Brenda of Warwood WV; two daughters, JoAnne Pasden and her husband James of Crownsville MD and Lisa A. Smith and her husband Daniel of Zanesville OH; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and a dear friend, Doris Jones of Wheeling. Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling WV on Sunday, December 7, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Monday at 11 am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling. I’m Bruce Smith that lived across the street. Sorry to hear of Mr. Reidel’s passing. I think of my days on the island often and think of the neighbors and Mr. Reidel often.
