BURNS, Mollie L., 93, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Monday, May 25, 2015 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
She was born May 23, 1922, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Aulden R. and Lillian Garrity Brewer. She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral in Wheeling and a 1940 graduate of St. Joseph Academy. She was a former Wheeling Central Catholic High School Band Boosters, a former member of the YWCA Women’s Swimming Club, and was formerly employed by the Hub of Wheeling and L.S. Good & Company.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Burns Sr., one brother, Orville Brewer, and one brother-in-law, George Burns.
She is survived by one son, Thomas M. Jr. Christina Burns of Bradford, Mass.; two daughters, Mary Lou William Nelson of Wheeling, and Sally Ann Burns of Mars, Pa.; one brother, Neil Jere Brewer of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren, Steven Kristin Burns of Mass., Michael Kristy Burns of Mass., Ryan Nelson of Wheeling, and Susan Schmeeder of Mass.; six great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with a vigil service at 3:30 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10 am at St. Joseph Cathedral with Msgr. Kevin Quirk officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
