Miriam E. Lewis

Miriam E. Lewis 101, formerly of Main Street in Wellsville, Ohio, died Sunday, October 28, 2001 at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania on March 18, 1900 and was the daughter of the late William and Emma Washington George.
Living most of her life in Wellsville, Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and attended the Lee’s Chapel, AME Church in Wellsville, where she was involved in many activities.
Her husband, Roland O. Lewis, Sr., whom she married on December 31, 1917, died June 30, 1982.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George Grace Johnson of Westlake Village, California and Mrs. Charles Vera Valentine of East Liverpool; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Roland O. Lewis, Jr. and Edwin O. Lewis; one daughter, Imogene Lewis.
Services will be held at Lee’s Chapel, AME Church, 1325 Center Street, Wellsville on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at 1:00 PM with Dr. Ronald Britter, of the church officiating.
Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
