Mildred Marie “Millie” Lemons, 96, of Moundsville, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in Cameron Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Cameron, W.Va.
Millie was born August 25, 1918, a daughter of the late Richard and Rose Blake Whetzel. She was a life member of the VFW Post 437 Ladies Auxiliary, Moundsville and a charter member of the Mound City Daughters of America, No. 58, Moundsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard Lemons; beloved daughter, Mary Ellen; brothers, Leslie, Ellis and Elmer Whetzel; and sisters, Pearl Kirkpatrick, Sarah Tucker and Ethel Ater.
Millie is survived by nephews, Thurman Kirkpatrick, Jr. of New Matamoris, Ohio, Craig Fullerton of Moundsville and David Fullerton of Glen Dale; nieces, Dorothy Archer of New Lexington, Ohio, Virginia Till of Davenport, Iowa and Mary Maple and May Kemmer, both of Bergholz, Ohio; and special friends, James and Debbie Thomas and family, and Stephen and Nancy Fye and family.
Friends will be received from 5-8 pm, Friday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, where funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, April 11, 2015, with Rev. Dennis Mehaffie officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
