Michael Andrew “Andy” Russell
Age: 44
Michael Andrew “Andy” Russell, 44 of Main Street, Wellsville died at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born in Okinawa, Japan on February 14, 1967 and was a son of the late Rolland F. Russell and Barbara June Adkins Russell of East Liverpool.
Andy had many passions and interests, from writing short stories, to ready poetry, traveling and movies. He also loved playing the lottery. He was a 1985 graduate of Wellsville High School and received his BA Degree in Telecommunications from Kent State University. He was a very loving young man who loved helping others less fortunate and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two brothers: Rolland F. “Rick” Russell, II and his wife Robin of East Liverpool and David Allen Russell of Wellsville; four sisters: Sonya G. Varish and her husband Mike of Wellsville, Dorothy N. Vorpahl and her husband Richard of Double Oak, TX, Heidi J. Russell and her life partner Bill Pomeroy of East Liverpool and Mary E. Russell of Wellsville; eleven nieces and nephews as well as six great nieces and nephews.
Andy’s family would like to thank everyone who helped make his last days comfortable and peaceful. A special thanks to nurse Connie, nurse’s aid Daniel and Valley Hospice.
The family would like to invite Andy’s friends to join with them for a Celebration of Andy’s Life at the Wellsville Alumni Center on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 1:30 to ?.
The Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.

I have known Andy for most of his life. He was a gentle soul and had a kind heart. Andy also had a good sense of humor, and he will be missed. I will not be able to attend his celebration, but I wish to express my condolences to the family.
I remember Andy has always having a big smile. He was such a sweet, kind person. Even though I’ve not seen Andy in many years, the last time I did, and told him who I was, he remembered. Rest in peace Andy. My thoughts & prayers are with all the Russell family.

To Mary, and the entire russell family..I am so sorry for the loss of Andy!! I have known him since my childhood growing up with Mary. we have so many great memories we shared together and a lot of laughs as well.. one in particular I’ll treasure and love Andy always.
