Melvin L. Chesnut
Melvin L. Chesnut, 97, of Glenn Road, Lisbon OH, died on November 1, 2008 at the Essex Nursing Home of Salem, following a brief illness. He was born in Jasper, OH on August 22, 1911, a son of the late Charles F. and Margaret Newton Chesnut.
Living most of his life in the area he worked as a Kiln placer at the Homer Laughlin China Co. from which he retired in 1972. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Pottery Allied Workers and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II.
Melvin is survived by 3 sons: Marcy A. Chesnut of Sebastian, Florida; Reginald K. Chesnut of Glenmoor and Melvin L. Chesnut Jr. of Ft. Walton, Florida; a daughter: Margaret F. Higgins of Lisbon, OH 8 Grandchildren, 7 Great- Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Melvin was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Graveside Services will be held at the Spring Grove Cemetery on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bill Wagner of the Pleasant Heights Baptist Church officiating.
