Melba Midgett Tillett, 90, of the 600 block of 23rd Street, passed away April 6, 2008.
Born in Waves, N.C. she was the daughter of Dorland and Betty Midgett. She was a member of the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, its Service Guild and Beasley Bible Class, The Eastern Star and a volunteer at the Old Coast Guard Station.
She is predeceased by her husband Coulter L. Tillett. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Constance Rosser and husband Earl of Norfolk, VA, Coulter D. Tillett, Sr., Deborah Tillett, Elise Wolf and husband Tom, and daughter–in-law Martha Tillett all of Virginia Beach. Five grandchildren; Colt Tillett, Carl Rosser, Cammy San Luis, Dorland Rosser and Clay Rosser, six great-grandchildren; Koa San Luis, Maluhia San Luis, Olivia Tillett, Edan Rosser, ‘Aka San Luis and Hannah Tillett.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 11:00AM at Altmeyer Funeral Home Maestas Chapel 1801 Baltic Ave. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service. Burial will be at Rosewood Cemetery following the reception. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Old Coast Guard Station 24th Street at Atlantic Ave., Virginia Beach or the VA Beach Rescue Squad: 740 Virginia Beach Blvd, 23451. You will not know me, but I am the daughter of Dora Lee O’Neal Baynor. It has been many years since I last saw

Melba, but I have fond memories of her, Aunt Betty & Uncle Dorland. I enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing so those that could not be present can look back and remember what a beautiful person she was.
