Maximino Pineda Nuguid

NORFOLK-Max Pineda Nuguid, 83, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in the loving arms of his daughter and lifelong companion. Born in the Philippines, he became a US citizen and served in the US Navy from 1955 until 1961. Then, he joined NOAA until he retired in 1979.
He was a very active member for many years of the Philippine Cultural Center PCC in VA Beach, where he made many friends and spent most of his time doing what he loved to do most…teaching ballroom dancing.
Max was preceded in death by daughters, Charito Nuguid and Carolina Nuguid-Goode. Left to cherish his memory are his loving companion of 37 years, Anna L. Pablo; his daughter, Carmen M. Ramage; three step-daughters, Dona Storey, and Doreen Fentress of VA Beach, and Vickie Barnett of GA; brothers, Fernando, Hibrio, Alfredo, Armando; sisters, Aurora and Adeliadia; ex-wife, Sybil; 8 grandchildren, Christina, Amanda, Alysha, Andrew, Angela, James, Jennifer, and Michael; and 9 great-grandchildren; and a multitude of wonderful friends.
Max’s memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was a thoughtful, generous, loving, caring, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
A visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd., VA Beach, from 5-8pm. A service to remember Max’s life will be held at Kempsville Christian Church, 5424 Parliament Dr., VA Beach, on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 2 pm, with entombment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Carmen, you and your family are in our prayers. So sorry for your loss. I remember visiting him at Norfolk General after a knee surgery. He was a very happy man and will be missed.
