Maurice G.”Mouse” Griffiths, 75, of Barton, Died Friday, January 18, 2002 at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV. He was born January 11, 1927 in St.Clairsville, Ohio, a son of the late Charles and Katherine Untermoser Griffiths. He was a retired caol miner for the Valley Camp Coal Company and the owner of the former Melody Manor in Lansing. He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church in Barton.

Mr. Griffiths was a US Navy veteran of WWII and a member of the VFW Post 8848 of Colerain. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Maquerite Betler Griffiths and his second wife, Virginia Krahel Griffiths.

Surviving are two daighters, Janet Thompson and her husband, Gary, of St. Clairsville, and Mary Kay Stopski and her husband, Stephen of Morristown, four sisters, Mrs. William Norma Merritt of Hamilton, Mrs. Lois Keller of St. Clairsville, Mrs. Gwendolyn Carter of Martins Ferry and Mrs, Joseph Katherine Moravick of St. Clairville, and four grandchildren, one great grandaughter one great grandson and one step great grandaughter.

Friends will be received at teh Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 204 West Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio, on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Angels Church, Barton, with Fr. Michael Rotolo, the Celebrant. Interment follows in the Holly Memorial Gardens at Pleasant Grove, Ohio with full Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post 8848 and the VFW Belmont County Council. Vigil services will be held at the funeral home on Sundaysat 3PM.
