Maryann E. Garrison, 84, was called home to our Lord in Heaven on May 29th to be with her loving husband of 62 years, Bob Garrison. Maryann has always had a warm smile for all and a creative flair that will remain forever in each and every heart she touched. Maryann’s motto throughout her life was simply: “A good hug can cure anything”.
She will be sorely missed by her 3 surviving children & their spouses; Cheryl & Wayne Dunn, Ron & Paula Garrison & Johanna Garrison. Throughout her life she was blessed with 6 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. As longtime members of Avalon Church of Christ, the service and ministry of Maryann & Bob will be extremely missed, yet continued by the church and her family.
A graveside service will honor Maryann’s life at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, June 2nd at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avalon Church of Christ to continue her dedication to serve our Lord and community. Please feel free to leave any condolences, or appreciation for the family at altmeyer.com.
Bobby and I are so very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I have so many great memories of mine and Gene’s friendship with Maryann and Bob. We did a lot of traveling together. To Hawaii,Colorado,SanFrancisco and north along the west coast to Seattle, Wash. where we enjoyed a visit with Bob’s cousin and family. We also traveled with them for some trips in their motor home. We worked with them when they had the youth group at our previous church and traveled with them and the youth to New Mexico for a youth conference, then to the Grand Canyon. We looked forward to our going out to eat on Friday nights at the end of our work week. Many more precious memories of our times together and our close friendship.
I knew Maryann many years ago when we were both in the arthritis swim class at the YMCA and I remember her for always being good natured and friendly. Although I did not know her well, I have never forgotten her or her dear husband and I am sorry to learn of her passing.
Maryann took care of all of the flowers at our wedding in 1991. Recently, I addressed her by name at church and she was so happy that I knew her! What a sweet servant of God. My sympathies to her loved ones.
Maryann was a very sweet lady, with a kind and gentle spirit. Her contagious smile and warm greetings will be greatly missed during Avalon Greeting times. Thank you for being a part of our Avalon Family. You will be missed!
Maryann was such a dear, loving woman to so many, I will always be grateful for her kindness. Her smile always made me feel welcome and her hugs were genuine and warming. Please accept my deepest condolences, as she will be missed. Smile, though, too, because she is now an angel among us.
Ron, Paula, & Family,
Our condolences on your loss.
God’s Peace to You,
-Joni & Gary Combs

We were very sorry to learn of Maryann’s passing. Adam saw something on Facebook about it and told us. She was a very gentle and loving lady. So talented with her flower arrangements, too. I lost touch after Bob died. I wish she would have given me a call. Pls accept our deepest sympathy.
