Mary V. Slenski, 92, formerly of Benwood, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 in Canonsburg, Pa. In the past six years, she resided with her daughter and husband in Eighty Four, Pa.
She was born June 9, 1922, a daughter of the late Andrew and Veronica Mlinarich Brayec. She was very proud of her Croatian heritage and was a member of the Croatian Club, where she loved to sing and dance. Mary was a member of St. John Catholic Church, and retired after 10 years of employment, from L. S. Good Company.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, of 62 years, Alfred “Fred” Slenski 2008; two sisters; Anna Yankovich and Catherine Markowski; and two brothers, Michael and William Brayec.
Mary’s family was very loving and dear to her. She is survived by her daughter, Lynett Karl Subrick of Eighty Four, Pa.; twin brother, John Barbara Brayec of Bethlehem; grandsons, Chad Michelle Subrick of Bentleyville, Pa., and Kurt Kristin Subrick of Eighty Four; and great grandchildren, Chloe and Chase Subrick of Eighty Four; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen chapel, 214 Marshall Street. Mass of Christian burial will take place, Tuesday, April 28, at 10 am, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bekeh as celebrant. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary.
