Dear Dr. Klemm and Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We know that words cannot express the feelings you have, nor provide much comfort during this time of loss. We have been there, too. The love of our Lord and of the family He has provided you is the best comfort. May the Lord fill you with memories of the happy and loving times you shared with your mother.

With our deepest sympathy,

Greg and Kim Hrin

Peace my heart…

Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.

Let it not be a death but completeness.

Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.

Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.

Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.

Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.

I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.

Mothers have a very special place in our hearts because they gave us life, were our very first teacher and nurtured us to be what we are today. Mary was a teacher. She shared her talents with family and friends.

She delighted in sitting on the floor and sharing the “secrets of the nines” with Franky and Tommy.

She taught me to crochet and when her husband asked her what exactly I was crocheting, she told him truthfully, “a rug”. But she allowed as to how she had better teach me how to end it.

She taught several generations how to play poker. She was always home on Friday and Saturday nights to share the evening with whoever popped in for companionship. She supplied the coffee cans of pennies and the worn deck of cards. It was amazing the conversations that would be discussed without timidity

over a slow game of “night baseball”.

She was a relentless crossword puzzle solver and a “shark” when it came to Scrabble. She never let anyone “just win” but she would adjust her skill level depending upon her designated challenger.

Mary never stopped learning. She watched the news but was never satisfied with just TV. She poured over the Washington Post eager to read every viewpoint.

However, as wise and talented as she was, she never taught me to play cribbage. Some things, I guess, are impossible. But she carried the cribbage board for 25 years in hopes that one day I would “get it”.

If I had to sum up Mary’s life, I would first say that she was a spirited daughter, a supportative wife, a loving mother, a fearless grandmother, and finally a friend and mentor to many.

She will be missed.

My mother:

Mom was a very devout Catholic and very ecumenical. She befriended many a non-Catholic Christian and non-Christian alike. She taught us that peoples of other faiths also make it to heaven. Mom your life exemplified Jesusí teachings. Your example remains alive and flourishes through your children. Thanks mom for all of the things you did to nurture, teach and encourage us in Godís ways and the Catholic faith.

Her focus on family is very evident. She loved her husband Edward and lovingly reared my sisters Mary Ellen, and Edwardine and myself. Mom we thank you for all of the times you played cards and scrabble with us. We thank you for buying our Fla. home on ìthe lakeî that provided us with so many memories. Above all we thank you for the unconditional love that you shared with us.

I am sure she has asked our Lord to bless all of her family, friends, and everyone she met during her life.

You were a very special person in life and are in peace with God.

We love you mom.
