Mary Lois Fitch, 86 of 2363 West 23rd Street Bellaire, Ohio died Thursday March 22, 2001 in Country Club Retirement Center, Bellaire. She was born August 3, 1914 in Bellaire, a daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Meeker Fitch.
She was a Lt. Colonel of the Air Force Reserve,
Retired. During WWII she served in the 8th Air Force in England and Germany. She was a two term Mayor of Bellaire having served in 1979-1983 and 1988-1991. She was a member of the South Bellaire United Methodist Church, where she was a lay speaker, American Legion Post #52 Bellaire and the
Pilot Club.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Edward, Jack, and Warren ”Hop” Fitch.
Surviving are a brother, Charles R. ”Bub” Fitch of
Bellaire. Two sisters Lucille Fitch of Bellaire and Joyce Roque of Fishtail, Montana.
Several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Saturday 6-8 PM and Sunday Noon-8PM at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 441-37th Street Bellaire, Ohio where services will be held at 1 PM Monday with Reverend
William Carter officiating.
American Legion Services at 7 PM Sunday in the funeral home. Full military graveside services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
