Mary E. Hughes Keener, 90, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Forest Hill Retirement Community in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
She was born September 1, 1919 in Fairpoint, Ohio, the daughter of the late Benjamin T. and Iva R. McGrew Hughes.
Mrs. Keener attended the Fairpoint Grammar School and graduated from St. Clairsville High School in 1937, majoring in commercial subjects. She later attended the Elliot School of Business in Wheeling, WV. She served as a secretary for Blaw Knox and was employed for over twenty-five years as a law secretary for the late attorney, Marguerite Brown. She was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Surviving are her husband, Everett E. Keener, who she married on August 27, 1966 at the Calvary Presbyterian Church, St. Clairsville, Ohio, she is also survivied by several cousins.
Family and friends will be received at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory, 204 West Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950, on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, where services will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM with the Reverend Laurie Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, Ohio.

I have very fond memories of Mary, who was a neighbor of my aunt & uncle when I was a student at St. Clairsville back in the 1950’s. I always enjoyed going over to visit with Mary & her family. I am sorry to learn of her passing.
