Mary E. Shultz DeBlasis, 91, of Bellaire, Ohio died Tuesday February 12, 2008 at her home.

She was born April 25, 1916 in Connersville, Ohio and baptized in Dillonvale, Ohio a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Zadroga Shultz.

Mary was retired from the St. John Cafeteria in Bellaire after many years and a former employee of the former Bellaire Enamel Company. She was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio, Catholic Womens Club and past president of the Madonna Crusaders Auxiliary and a member of the Polish National Alliance.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Hawkshaw” DeBlasis on May 7, 2002. Mary and Elmer were married on September 3, 1949. Two sisters, Stella and Genieva Shultz and two brothers, John and Stanley Shultz.

Surviving are her son, Nicolas DeBlasis and his wife, Denise of Shadyside, Ohio, three brothers, Walter Shultz of Fallbrook, California, Louis and George Shultz both of Shadyside, Ohio. Also three grandchildren, Vincent, Vanessa and Victoria and many nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Friday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 am at the St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio with Msgr. Gene W. Mullett, as Celebrant. Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio.

Vigil services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 2:15 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Cafeteria 415 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio 43906 or the St. John ‘s Grade School 350 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio 43906 or Valley Hospice, Inc 132 Peters Run Road Wheeling, West Virginia 26003.

dear nick and family

i was sorry to learn about the passing of your mother. looking at the pictures during the tribute to Mary, brought back many memories. Your mother was just such a wonderful person. I was fortunate to grow up in west bellaire near you and your family, it was such a great experience. Your mother was always so kind to all of us. Her service to the church and the school children was also something i remember and so many people appreciate. Thinking of you and your family at this time of loss. Our prayers are with you. Mary was such a good christian woman and added so much to so many lives.
