Mary DeFilippo, 89, formerly of Main Street, Wellsville, Ohio died on April 20, 2002 at East Liverpool City Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Ernest, PA on March 13, 1913, a daughter of the late John Creaturo and Rose Skubiak Creaturo.
Mrs. DeFilippo lived most of her life in this area working at Sterling China as a utility worker for 13 years before her retirement in 1967. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wellsville, the Altar & Rosary Society of the church and the Golden Links Senior Club.
Her husband, Dominic DeFilippo, whom she married in June of 1935, died on February 26, 1974.
She is survived by her two daughter in laws: Dianne DeFilippo Spangler and her husband, Ronald of Canton, OH and Connie DeFilippo Bauer and her husband, Ed of Wellsville, OH; her grandchildren: Stephen DeFilippo and his wife, Susan of Lisbon, OH, Jeff DeFilippo and his wife, Amy of East Liverpool, OH, Carla DeFilippo of Columbus, OH, Cristin Bennett and her husband, William of Greensboro, NC and Nicole McCarty and her husband, Brent of Columbus, OH; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons: Vincent DeFilippo, John DeFilippo and Charles DeFilippo; three brothers: Philip Creaturo, Steve Creaturo and Paul Creaturo; a sister: Julia Mandeville and a grandaughter: Deanna DeFilippo in October of 2001.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wellsville on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Father Bernard Gaeta of the church as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Wellsville, OH.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Tuesday, April 22, 2002 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
