I am so sorry for your loss. Mary Ann was a wonderful person. Not only have I been acquainted with her through the Carnahan family, but I also saw her wonderful work and devotion to the students at Elm Grove Elementary when she was a Reading Volunteer. She has left quite an imprint on so many lives. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

To my Cousins:

Your dad searched our heritage. Your mom understood how important our Burke family is & created the directory so we knew how to find any one of our tribe. Your dad showed us where we came from & your mom worked to keep us close. Her cards at my birthday, my kids’ birthdays & Kareem’s birthday have meant so incredibly much to me and the fact that she did that for each & everyone of us is astounding. When I was home & ran into her, I was always excited by her hug & smile. She has always been so special to me & our family. Uncle Walt knew what he was doing when he married Aunt Mary Ann!

More than any of that is her greatest legacy – each of you. You are all the best of her & Uncle Walt. It is their kindness, big hearts and warm smiles that live on in each of you.

I truly will miss your mom so much & this is one of those times when I wish I didn’t live so far away. I want to be there so badly to say good-bye & to honor your mom. I am there in my heart & so saddened by her passing. I will miss her.

My heart, thoughts & prayers are with you all.

Love,

Kerri Burke Hadeed & Family

To the Burke Family,

I wish I could be there in person to give you my deepest sympathy. I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Mary Ann when she was my patient in the hospital. No matter how bad she felt, she always had a smile and an “old nurse story” to share, and I wish I had known her years ago… I’m sure she was an incredible influence on everyones life she touched. In my 30 year career as a nurse, there are “Special Patients” that I will never forget, and that hopefully helped make me a better nurse. Mary Ann was one of those special patients. Your family’s love was so very evident in the wonderful attention you gave her. God has surely called home one of his Angels.
