Mary A. Coles-Maddox
Age: 81

Mary A. Coles-Haddox, 81, of Chester Avenue, Wellsville died at her home on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Mumford, AL on January 9, 1927, the daughter of the late Jimmy and Willie Mae Youngblood, Sr.

Living most of her life in this area, she was a nursing home dietician for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Wellsville. She was a member of the church choir and the VFW Auxiliary # 9285.

Her husband, John Henry Maddox, whom she married on June 6, 1970, died on August 12, 1995.

Three sons: George W. Coles of East Liverpool, Maurice “Pappy” Coles and Lawrence “Jody” Coles both of Goshen, IN; four daughters: Tina M. Coles of Lakeland, FL, Annette “Mary Lou” Coles of Charleston, WV, Bernadette O. Carter and Ruth S. Coles both of Wellsville; the father of her children: Samuel Coles of Wellsville; twenty-five grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren survive her.

Besides her parents and husband, her grandmother, Alice Murray, the person who raised her; two daughters: Yvonne D. Coles and Yvette H. Coles and her brother: Jimmy Lee Youngblood preceded her in death.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Wellsville on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Roosevelt Thompson of the church officiating.

Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
