Bertus, Martin S., 79, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday July 3, 2008 in Park Health Center, St.Clairsville, Ohio.

He was born December 19, 1928, a son of the late Joseph and Bertha Matlin Bertus.

Martin was a retired foreman for Wheeling Machine Products. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville and the Ham Radio Association.

In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his wife Marylu Virtue Bertus; two brothers, William and Pete Bertus; and three sisters, Phyllis Byrne, Barb Puskas and Margaret Holovanisin.

Surviving are his son, Marty Joyce Bertus of St. Clairsville, his grandchildren Michele Bertus, Westerville, Ohio and Lori Bertus, St. Clairsville; his brother, Bernie Joanne Bertus of Follansbee, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory, St. Clairsville, where a Vigil service will be held at 2 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville, Ohio, with Father Anthony Batt the celebrant.

Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Trail Fire Department or the Saints Club.

It was a pleasure knowing Martin for all these years. He was member number 3 of the Triple States Radio Amateur Club TSRAC. All the members will surely miss him.
