Robert J. Edmonston, Sr. and Martha M. Edmonston
HAMPTON, Va. — Robert J. Edmonston, Sr. passed away on Sept. 19, 2014. His devoted wife for more than 66 years, Martha M. Edmonston, departed this life on Sept. 25, 2014. They had formerly been residents of Steubenville, Ohio.
A Korean War veteran, Bob worked in upper management for US Steel in Weirton, W.Va., and later was Vice-President of Murphy Consolidated Construction Co. in Wellsburg, W.Va. He enjoyed painting in his spare time and was actively involved with the Steubenville Art Association.
Betty’s first love was caring for her family. She had the gift of hospitality and her home was always open and welcoming to everyone. She enjoyed playing the piano and held various positions in both the Golf Association and Women’s Club.
Bob leaves behind an older brother, George Edmonston of Florida. Bob and Betty are survived by their children, Bob Jr. Jodie of Texas, Jim New York, and Susan Edmonston-Barnette Jeff of Virginia; grandchildren, Nicole Edmonston-Lobb, Jamie Edmonston, Marissa Sequerth Geoff, Jim Edmonston Ashley, Jacob Holt, and Madolyn Kenreigh Kyle; great-grandchildren, Kenzie, London, Adriana, and Caleb.
Bob and Betty were an amazing couple who touched many. They exemplified strength and courage in every aspect of their lives. They will be remembered for their kind hearts and loving spirits.
The family wishes to thank special friends, Russ and Linda Smalley of Steubenville, Ohio, the care providers at North Hampton Rehabilitation and Convalescent Center, the Prayer Ladies, and the staff of Heartland Hospice in Virginia for their love, care, and support. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Wellsville, N.Y.

So sorry to hear about your parents. They used to come in our store periodically when they still lived here. I can’t imagine how you all are feeling, losing both of them in such a short time. Prayers for all of you.
