Marilyn Marling, 74 of Shadyside, Ohio died Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Acuity Specialty Hospital in Bellaire, Ohio.

She was born December 1, 1939 in Bellaire, Ohio a daughter of the late Ira Brooks Booher and Etta Marie Sprague Booher.

Marilyn was the former owner of the Village Dairy Bar and a member of the Church of Christ both in Shadyside, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert B. Booher.

Surviving are her husband, Edward Lynn Marling; two children, Tina Jeff Lipscomb of Delta Junction, Alaska and Thomas Maria Marling of Greenville, South Carolina and one sister, Marjorie Hoffman of Duncan Falls, Ohio. Also three grandchildren, Jessica Lipscomb of Delta Junction, Alaska, Jeffrey Lipscomb of North Pole, Alaska and Justina Lipscomb of Delta Junction, Alaska.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside, Ohio on Thursday from 11:30 am until time of services at 3 pm with Evg. Jeffrey Kent and Pastor Jim Monogioudis officiating. Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ 3821 Leona Avenue Shadyside, Ohio 43947 or the Rush Run Community Chapel 1983 County Road 17 Rayland, Ohio 43943.

I am very sorry for your loss. Marilyn was a great woman. She was like a grandma to me and my brother. We are both sad to see her go.

Lynn and family, our sincere condolences for your loss. Marilyn is in a far better place, but, her loss will be felt by us all. Both you,Lynn,and Marilyn have always been my parent’s favorite neighbors. We shall keep you all in our prayers.

She was the person who made me learn to spell tongue because I couldn’t keep it in my mouth. She was the person whose house always felt like a home, even after not living there for years. Her yard was a playground, her business was my first “job”, her kitchen was a classroom. There was never enough time and always too much distance. I love you grandma.
