Marie Louise Olson, 83, of Virginia Beach passed away on October 9, 2012 at Beth Shalom Village. Marie made a significant impact upon countless number of lives throughout the years. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 6, 1929 but raised on Staten Island. Marie was the eldest daughter of the late Raymond and Louise Olson of New York. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Manyata Olson, Virginia Beach, who will always love, cherish and miss her. Marie is also survived by her brother, Herbert Harry Olson, Toms River, New Jersey; Sister, Doris Olson Martin, Boulder, CO. and five nieces and nephews. She was very loved by her family and friends and will never be forgotten.
Marie served with The Children’s Bible Fellowship of N.Y., Inc. in Carmel, New York for 34 years. The disabled children and adults she served and the staff at C.B.F. were very important and special to her. She earned her R.N. Degree from Methodist Hospital in 1952; Bachelor’s Degree from Nyack College in Childhood Education; first Master’s Degree from Hunter College in Special Education and the second from Fordham University in School Administration.
The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd., Virginia Beach on Thursday, October 11th from 4:30 until 5:30 with a funeral service immediately following. Aunt Marie was very special to me when I was a little girl. Aunt Marie cared for many young people in her life time and I was one of them. I will remember her smiling face always. Maria Bell
