GAVIN, Marie A. Storch, 103, a lifelong resident of Wheeling, W.VA., passed away on Monday October 10, 2011 following a brief stay at the Willows Nursing Center in Parkersburg, W.VA.
Marie was born in Wheeling on August 29, 1908, the daughter of the late Fred and Josephine Sitzman Storch. She was a Catholic by faith and a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Wheeling. Marie graduated from the Saint Alphonsus Business Academy in 1924. Marie was retired from Famous Supply in Wheeling, where she worked for many years as secretary, bookkeeper, and office manager.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, William “Patsy” Gavin in 1993; five brothers, Bill, Lou, John, Herman Storch of Wheeling and Joseph Storch of Wheaton, IL ; two sisters, Bertha Storch Mackin and ClaraStorch Pappert of Wheeling; and a grandson, Andrew Gavin.
Marie is survived by her son Bill Gavin and his wife Mary of Vienna, W.Va. and their son David.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Wheeling, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday October 13, 2011 with Rev. Jeremiah McSweeney officiating. Committal services for Marie will be held immediately following mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling. At Marie’s request, there will be no visitation.
