Maria Angela Bravo Maldonado

Virginia Beach- Angela Jefferies, 25, of Virginia Beach died on July 27, 2001 in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Angela was a daughter, a sister and a friend whose heart brought only joy to those who knew her and peace to those who were in trouble. In order for us to know love we have to think about her and though we will shed tears we must remember the many ways that she touched our lives and brought joy into our lives.

She was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and was an administrative assistant. She attended Calvary Chapel of Hampton Roads. Angela was a member of the Flex Gym in Virginia Beach and had won first place in the N.P.C. Virginia State Championship competition on July 7th of this year and won second place in the National Body Rock Monica Brant Fitness Championship on July 14th of this year.

Angela is survived by her mother, Carmen J. Maldonado M.D.; step-father, Craig S. Prohaski; father, Jose Francisco Bravo Munoz; two sisters, Carmen Yadira Letusick and Frances Vanessa Bravo; nine aunts and uncles, Carlos Maldonado, Luis Angel Maldonado, Rev. Laura Maldonado, Elizabeth Angiola, Josue Felipe, Peter Angiola, Cesar Colon, Gloria Maldonado and Millie Maldonado.

Angela brought so much joy to everyone around her. Anyone who met her knew that she was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. I will miss seeing her at the gym, and the cheerful encouragement she always gave. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. I will never forget you, Angela.

Angela is my aunt, who I love and will never forget. She helped me to understand life, and to accept the things that I have shared with her. I’ll miss her coming into our house yelling “hello, where are my girls, it’s Angela”. And always a big hug, and a kiss. Angela, me and Mom will miss you. Nichole CoCo

Angela was a great person; very outgoing and lovable. I will always remember her smile and her great personality. She could make the saddest person smile. We had a lot of good times together and I am glad she was my friend. The last months of her life she did share with me that she was happier than she has ever been. I will miss her deeply and she will always be in my heart. I will never forget the first time I met her within that week I received some bad news. I went in the bathroom crying. She came behind me saying “I know you don’t know me very well but I know you are hurting just please tell me you are O.K.”. She brought joy to everyone she met just by saying “hi”. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. Angela will be remembered as a great and lovable person. Her last words to me was “I love you, Babe”. I love you too, Angela

Angela was a joy to have around. She would brighten my day with her kind words of encouragement, and we shared jokes and laughed alot while doing our cardio getting ready for our shows that were up and coming. I believe she is at peace and God only wants those of greatness in his army. She left us with her heart filled with the most happiness she has ever felt. She achieved her goals in fitness, was well liked in the gym, wonderful family, friends, and most of all she had a man that loved her more than there are stars in the sky…. She is our angel, looking over us and protecting us. Fondest memories Angela, I’ll miss you be-bopping around flex.

Angela was my sister and my friend. She knew the importance of always telling her loved ones – just how much she loved them. Her humor was wonderful. Our family often requested that she “perform” for them. Although she was beautiful on the outside – it could not match the beauty on the inside. I know that Angela had a tremendous faith and is in heaven now. All who knew her – will always love her.

Love and prayers to all of her family and love ones. Cathy

Angela, I will miss you!! You are one of the most energetic and vibrant people that I have ever known. When I worked with you at Headway, you always kept us entertained! Your untimely death came at a time when you were on top of the world. Everyone who has known you, definitely mourns your death. I will miss your smile and the funny faces that you made to make us laugh. I will always remember you running around the corner in the office–you seemed to run more than walk. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Love, Heather

Angela’s light will forever shine in my heart. We called ourselves sisters. She was the person that I knew could always bring a smile to my face and make me laugh. It was more important to her to bring joy to others than anything else, even if it were at her own expense. She taught me about living each moment to the fullest. There wasn’t anything that Angela and I couldn’t talk about…husbands, work, exercising, and our relationships with God. Angela’s memory will forever be etched in my heart and soul. I feel saddened to have lost such a dear and special friend but comforted that God has gained a truly precious angel. I know that in heaven all are rejoicing with her presence. I know that we all did here on earth. Ang, I’ll never forget our times. Thanks for always believing in me and all the kind words. I look forward to the day when we see each other again. I miss ya girl!!

As I read the kind words everyone has to share about Angela, one thing also holds true in my mind. You knew that when you were around her you would be greeted by her beautiful smile and bright eyes. Doug and I enjoyed the times we spent with Jeff and Angela — we knew there would be laughter. I also enjoyed meeting Angela for lunch for “girl talk.” Our prayers are with her friends and family that we all be reminded during the difficult times of how Angela would have left a room — bright and smiling. And be reassured in that she is doing that in Heaven now.

Dear Tia, Yadi and Frances:

When I think of Angie, I remember a little girl with the face of a doll and the energy of a firecracker. I am sad that I did not get to know her as well as the many friends who have expressed their love for her and sympathy for our family. To have loved and be loved by so many is surely a testatement to what a wonderful young lady Angie was. I pray that God gives you the strength to endure such loss. With much love, Lissa

God’s Blessing to the Maldonado Family.

I am a co-worker from Lee Hecht Harrison in Richmond. I was blessed to attend Angela’s Homegoing, but

could not stay for the entire service. I never met Angela in person, but I just had to come. After I

got there I found out why I was so drawn to attend her service. It was because she was my sister in

the Lord.

She and I had never shared our experience with God, but apparently there was a connection she

and I made in the spirit.

I was blessed by the message God spoke through her aunt. It let me know that even though even though

it was in another language the message is still the same. She shared the word of God beautifully and

God was truly Glorified in that place, by all that I witnessed.

Just continue to feast on the 23rd Psalm and remember that the earth has no sorrow

Heaven cannot heal!!!

God Bless You All!!!

I only saw Maria once in competition and I was overcome with her spiritual presence. Initially when people noticed Maria, I am sure it was for her physical beauty; however, I noticed her anointed spirit. Your daughters inner beauty manifested who we saw, she truly had Gods favor. I can not possibly share your grieve, as I only saw Maria once, but I do feel the lost of a kindred spirit. Her smile, charm and generosity will be missed. Take care of yourselves and may Gods blessings be upon you.

I will forever look around and miss hearing her enthusiastic greeting for me as I walked into the office “Hola Chica” and listening to her laugh at me when I would try to use my feeble Spanish skills to create a response. I went to her very first bodybuilding contest in Petersburg and after her win at the Pavilion, we talked about how far she had come since then and how far she would go, conquering the fitness world -She was such an inspiration about how hard work and dedication can pay off once you put your mind to something – that is the most valuable lesson and example that Angela taught me – I will miss her deeply.

It is a classic comment to make when somebody so young is taken.I just wish I had a little more time to tell you how you impacted my life. I wish I could have told you how proud I was of your recent accomplishments. Rarely in life do you meet people who, as soon as you see them, bring a smile to your face. Angie, you did just that. I’ll miss are verbal sparring sessions in the gym, your sarcastic comments, and whitty comebacks. Most of all I’ll miss you.

Karen had known Angela since she was just out of high school, working as a receptionist at Gold’s Gym where Karen was Aerobic Director. She always wore a smile and had a kind word. She & Karen both competed in the recent fitness competition at the Pavilion where Angela placed first overall. Karen recounts their mutual respect & how much fun they had helping each other in the dressing room and backstage…waiting…and waiting…to go on. She was a talented, beautiful young lady, both inside & out, and her loss is a tragedy. She will be sorely missed. Our deepest condolences go out to her family.

Carla & I will always remember you! Te amo, Cusy!

Surely, God must have needed a beautiful angel to perform His wonderous deeds in heaven. Therefore, He could not have chosen a more perfect one. He chose Angela! Angela I will miss you indeed. I know that you are truly one of God’s angels. It is apparent to me that He needs you just a little bit more than we do. I will miss you terribly and I know that you will always be with us in spirit! Some day we will meet again, thank you for being the wonderful person that I have come to know and I will always remember. May God comfort and continue to bless the Maldonado family.
