SMUREK, Margaret Mary, 83, of McMechen, died Thursday, December 18, 2003 in the New Martinsville Health Care Center. She was born December 2, 1920 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Mary Tittle Hrebic and William Hrebic. She worked at the Wheeling Stamping Co, for 24 years and was a member of St. James Catholic Church, where she was active in the Rosary Altar Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Smurek in 1997: two sisters, Ida Fisher and Freda Cisar; three brothers, Oscar, Richard and Harry Hrebic; a great-nephew, Andrew D’Alesio. Surviving are a sister, Velma Albaugh and a niece, Effie Shimp, both of Chicago, Illinois; nephew, David Cisar and his wife Beverly of New Martinsville, W.Va; niece, Rebecca D’Alesio and her husband Michael of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; nephews, Don and Dan fisher of New Orleans, Louisiana; nieces, Patty Brewer, Leona Skeels and a nephew Bill Hrebic, all of Toledo, Ohio and nephews Roger and Kevin Hrebic of San Francisco, California. Friends will be recieved from 12 Noon until 4 pm on Sunday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday afternoon. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Monday December, 22, 2003 at St. James Catholic Church, McMechen, with the Rev. Joseph J. Hayden, S.J. as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. James Catholic Church Rosary Altar Society.
