Dear Lyn & Kristina,

I am so very sorry to hear about Lou. I didn’t know him all that well but I know the way he looked at Kristina — such a proud father. You both are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Lynn and family:

Lou was such a giant of a man. His love for his family was demonstrated daily by his love for life. Lou brought to each of us a sense of purpose and concern for one another. His personality was infectious, and his kindness overpowered any problem. Lou had a personality that drew people to him from pure gentleness. He now resides in Heaven to watch over all those he cared for while he walked among us. May you be comforted by the Divine Mercy of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of our Blessed Mother.

I moved to Baytown, TX last summer, but check the local papers daily, consider Shadyside High School one of my many “homes” and think of all of my previous students often. My thoughts and prayers are especially with you now. May you find comfort in this difficult time. Sincerely, Tammy Meigh

Our condolences to your family during this difficult time. The Velkovich’s was the first family that welcomed us to the neighborhood when we moved on the block 16 years ago and we are very fortunate to have the Velkovich family as our friends. Over the years we have grown to be very fond of Lou, Lynn, and the girls. We will sadly miss Lou.

Words cannot express how sorry I am with Lou’s passing. I would rather be there in person to express my deepest sympathy, but a previously planned trip has kept me from attending. I will always cherish Lou’s intense excitement and knowledge of “what we need to do” to get the Lakers another championship. One of my memories of a game was when he called me from work after midnight on a late Lakers playoff game and he wanted to know the score. He said “sorry for calling so late but I knew I could count on you to be up watching the game.” I think knowing his team had won helped him get through the shift. His love and dedication showed not only for his favorite team but also to his friends and family. He will be extremely missed today and everyday following. I’m grateful and honored in calling Lou my friend for all these years.
