Loretta Jayne Kata, formerly of Wellsville, passed away at East Liverpool City Hospital on Monday, April 13, 2015 following a lengthy illness.
Jayne was born in Wellsville, a daughter to the late Roy and Mamie Moore Smith. Having lived her entire life in this area, she worked as a Secretary for Wellsville High School for 11 years. She was also a member and secretary for Riverside United Presbyterian Church for 15 years and a choir member there for 65 years. Jayne was a gifted singer who performed semi-professionally as a soloist with local bands as well as for church services and community musical programs for many years. She had a repertoire of hundreds of songs. She was also a long-time member of the Wellsville Arts Club.
A beloved wife and mother, Jayne was always dedicated to the care and support of her family. She is survived by a son: Shawn Kata and his wife Dawn of Strongsville, OH; two daughters: Julann Stephenson and her husband Keith of Blacksburg, VA and Melissa DeLisio and her husband Chris of Austin, TX; Seven grandchildren: Audra, Alex, Jillian, Gabrielle, Benjamin, Erinn and Kalina also three great grandchildren: Hunter, Lyla and Grayson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Julius J. Kata whom she married March 3, 1957; two brothers: Donald and Dale Smith and one sister: Hazel Fluno.
Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11 AM with Rev. Duane Hetzer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville funeral home on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM.

We have such fond memories of growing up in the Riverside church family with the Kata family. Especially loved listening to Mrs. Kata sing. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
