Kendzierski, Leonard A., 79, of Second Street Moundsville, died Wednesday September 26, 2001, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV. He was born on December 20, 1921, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Anthony and Frances Jaworski Kendzierski. He was a retired painter and insulator with the former Allied Chemical Company in Mounsville. Mr. Kendzierski was a member of the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Moundsville, a member of the Moundsville Eagles Aerie #499, and a veteran of U.S. Army, having served in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Theodore Kendzierski; and three sisters, Emily Stenger, Josephine Metzger, and Marion Litwin. Surviving are his beloved wife, Mary Ethel Hall Kendzierski; four sons, Leonard F. of Moundsville. Alan B. and his wife Janet of Sherrard, Paul M. and his wife Vernita of Moundsville, and Philip D. and his wife, Beth of Moundsville; a sister, Evelyn Fryman and her husband. Henry of Moundsville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Moundsville, with the Rev. Ronan Deegan, T.O.R. as celebrant. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville. The Moundsville Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services. Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church Building Fund, 7th Street and Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville, WV 26041.
