I can not believe it. Leokadia Pupkiewicz “Lola” was the sister of my grandfather – Józef Pupkiewicz, who died in 2009. Grandpa thought Lola died during World War II. He searched for her through the Polish Red Cross, but without results. He always cried when he remembered her and would not speak. He died knowing he hadn’t found her. His last photo of his sister was from 1942. She was a beautiful woman. Grandpa named his daughter (my mother) – Leokadia.
I’m so thankful that after so many years I found out that my grandfather’s sister did not die during the World War II, that she survived.
Rest in peace aunt…
