WOJTASZEK, Leo J. Sr., 86, of Bethlehem, Wheeling, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, in Wheeling Hospital. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Steubenville plant and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army Company G, 337th Infantry, Fifth Army during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association and of the former Holy Name Society at St. Alphonsus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Pappa Wojtaszek; his parents, John and Katherine Plecha Wojtaszek; four brothers, Henry Bernard Alphonse and John ”Sam” Wojtaszek. Surviving are a son, Leo J. Jr. and his wife, Paulette E. of Oak Forest, Illinois; three sisters, Mrs. George ”Mary” Askler of Weirton, Mrs. Joseph ”Helen” Freidhof of Wheeling and Mrs. William ”Jane” Campbell; two grandsons, Matthew H. and Andrew T. Wojtaszek of Oak Forest, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling. Mass of Christian Burial on April 17, 2001, Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark Carter as celebrant. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
