LAWRENCE VERNARD “BUDDY” FIELDS 76 of Bellaire, Ohio died Friday September 11, 2009 at his home.

He was born January 2, 1933 in Shadyside, Ohio a son of the late Thurman and Elta Post Fields.

Buddy was a retired driver for the Sidwell Concrete Company in Bellaire. He had also been a coal miner and worked at the former Ferro Alloys in Brilliant. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellaire and the American Legion Post 52. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Petschaur Fields, three children, Lawrence V. “Larry” Judy Fields, Jr. of Rayland, Ohio, Debbie Jo Kevin Shepherd of Wheeling, WV and Thomas “Tom” Fields of the home. Also three grandsons, Steven Lawrence Lauren Fields, Christian Carter Fields and Daniel Joseph Kaylee Fields and one great granddaughter, Reagan Lee Fields.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Sunday from 2 to 8 pm where services will be held on Monday at 11 am with Pastor Connie Quinn officiating. Interment in the Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

American Legion Post 52 will conduct services on Sunday at 7 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Hospice, Inc. 10686 State Rt 150, Rayland, Ohio 43943.

I’ve known Larry for alot of years. I worked with him in my younger days at North American #3 Mine. He was a very pleasant man and would stop and talk any time that he seen me around town. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. God Bless his Family.

Uncle Buddy, to me, was always cool. I always looked forward to him making me laugh by the way he laughed. It was always a treat when we knew we were going up Indian Run for a visit. Always a kind, considerate, good natured gentleman.
