Norfolk- Lawrence L. "Larry" Joyner, 61, of the 6100 Block of Ivor Ave. died July 20th, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He lived in the Virginia Beach area for many years and was a member of Charity United Methodist Church in Pungo.
He was manager of J.C. Penney Distribution Center in Virginia Beach until he retired with 24 years of service.
He was very active in community affairs; Chairman of the Strawberry Festival in 1984 and 1985, Chairman of the Neptune Festival 1983, a member of the Rotary Club and on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Marine Science Museum.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his father and mother, Linwood L. Joyner and Mildred R. Joyner; a son, Lawrence Lee Joyner, Jr. and his wife Carmen; Lee’s mother, Rita H. Joyner; granddaughter, Bethany Joyner; a sister, Carole Teaters and husband Bob; a brother, Wayne R. Joyner and wife, Marty; three nephews, Brian Emerson, wife Kristi and son Peyton and Daniel Emerson and Lyle Joyner; a niece, Sheri Mantoni, and her husband, Pete and sons, Brannen and Tyler, and a very devoted special friend Jackie Osmond.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 1:30 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by Rev. Celeste Heath. Visitation will be at the residence immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
