GIBBONS, Lawrence Earl, 73, of Wood Street, Wheeling, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
He was a retired employee of the former John Dieckmann and Sons Florist of Wheeling, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Catholic by faith, and a former member of the Kain Club of Wheeling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy August and Loretta Blum Gibbons; a son, Roy A. Gibbons; two brothers, Robert and Donald Gibbons; and a sister, Marjorie Hemsley.
Suviving are his wife, Lucille M. Coury Gibbons; two daughters, Mrs. Phillip Cynthia Ruggiero of Shadyside, Ohio, and Mrs. Tony Patricia DiBartolomeo of Triadelphia; five sons, Charles L. and his wife, Lucia Gibbons of Dover, Ohio, Donald R. Gibbons, Ronald J. and his wife, Kimberly Gibbons, Lawrence E. Gibbons Jr., and Robert P. and his wife, Paula Gibbons, all of Wheeling; three sisters, Mrs. James Dorothy Dombo of Akron, Ohio, Vivian Burggraf of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Glenna Dillon of Wheeling; one brother, Richard Gibbons of Zephyrhills, Florida; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Thursday, May 10, 2001, from noon until time of services at 8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, with the Rev. George Chaanine of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Church officiating. Interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Wheeling.
