Landon C. Maness 78 went to be with the Lord at 1pm on the 22nd day of April, 2015. He was born to Clyde and Hattie Maness of Rose Hill, VA, and is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Betty L. Maness formerly Eldridge of Ewing, VA; their two children, Ronnie Maness of Rutledge TN, and Rhonda Hartman of York County VA; multiple grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and innumerable family members, siblings, spouses, and friends that he loved as his own. Landon’s pride and joy was his family, and his circle of love was broad and extended to all; those that were blessed to know the warmth of his heart and hugs will miss him beyond measure. Calling hours will be on Monday 4/27, 5-7pm, with service to follow; located at Altmeyer Funeral Home 12893 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA 23608, 757874-4200. Landon dedicated his career to serving his Country in the Army, completed two tours during the Vietnam War, and retired from both the military and civil service; he will be laid to rest in the Arlington National Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Heart Association or York Assembly of God.
Betty and family. I have such fond memories of my uncle. I am so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful man, father, husband, grandfather and veteran. I am so proud that he was my uncle. May God give all of you comfort and strength during these trying times.

Hearts are heavy with sorrow at this time. What a great man that heaven just recieved. We are so sorry for the Maness family. We are thinking of everyone during this time of sorrow and always.
How Blessed we feel to have known Landon Maness! The love of God just poured out of him. We are sure everyone in Heaven is talking about the new guy who gives the Big hugs!! Landon was a great man. He was a kind and gentle giant, and loved his family unconditionally and with all his heart. We are blessed to have known him. He always greeted us with hugs. To the Maness family, we are so sorry for your loss and hope you find comfort in your memories of him.
Landon was there with a bright smile & warm hug when it seemed like my whole world ended. He was super important to me & I will greatly miss him. It was an extreme honor to know him & love him. My deepest condolences to all those who knew & loved him especially his family.
