All my love and prayers are with Charlotte, our family and friends in this time of sadness. We some times take for granted the people in our lives who truly love us; all too often we forget they are there until it’s too late. This past Christmas opened my eyes to this, as a large number of our family gathered in the Higgins home, and reminded me of the truly important things in life. Even in this time of sadness I find joy in the fact that somewhere up there my Grandfather is playing baseball with Ted Williams, The Babe and Joe DiMaggio. Rest in peace Grandfather, and God bless.

Dear Dad:

I just returned from Virginia Beach. Your memorial service was so wonderful and special. You had many good friends who came and showed how much you meant to them. Kathy gave a beautiful eulogy in your honor. Your youngest daughter Patti was there – she misses you, too. It was good to be with Charlotte and all of the family and I know you were smiling. I came home to many cards of sympathy from my friends who know what you meant to me. I love you dad and I know you are having that “cup of tea” with Nana, Aunt Mary, Uncle Francis & Freddy, and Aunt Didio and I know Pierre & Snoopy and Misty are there too. I miss you, dad. Your loving daughter, Beth

IN REMEMBERANCE OF MY VERY DEAR FRIEND MR. LAMONT “BUD” HIGGINS. HAVING SERVED IN THE US NAVY WITH THIS MAN WAS AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE AND LIFETIME EXPERIENCE. THE MEMORIES OF THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. THE LORD HANDED “BUD” A LOT ON HIS PLATE WITH THIS UNENDING BATTLE OF CANCER. THE LAST TIME WE SPOKE I MENTIONED THE REASON WHY YOU “BUD”WERE GETTING ALL THESE DIFFERENT KINDS OF CANCER? PROBABLY BECAUSE HE THE LORD KNOWS YOU CAN BEAT THEM INSTEAD OF GIVING SOMEONE ELSE THE CANCER AND NOT SURVIVING. YOU WON A LOT OF BATTLES MY FRIEND AND I’LL REMEMBER YOU ALWAYS. I DEARLY WANTED TO SEE YOU ONE MORE TIME AND REMINICE. THE “DK”, “DIAMOND JIM”, “CHICKEN MAN” AND A FEW OTHER PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T BOTHER TO KEEP IN TOUCH. WE WERE/ARE A PROUD GROUP OF SAILORS. KEEPING IN TOUCH AFTER SERVING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MOST PEOPLE REALIZE. IT MEANT SO MUCH TO ME TO HERE “PAPPY’S VOICE EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS AND TO KNOW THAT WE WERE TRUE FRIENDS. MY WIFE BARBARA NEVER MET “BUD” BUT SHE FEELS MY PAIN AS WELL ON THIS DAY. KNOWING THAT “BUD” IS FINALLY AT PEACE IS COMFORTING. I SHALL KEEP IN TOUCH WITH YOU CHARLOTTE SHARING THE MEMORIES OF A GREAT MAN. MY DEEPEST HEARTFELT CONDOLANCES ARE WISHED TO YOU ON HIS PASSING. I LOVED THIS MAN AND WILL MISS HIM TO MY PASSING. SEE YOU IN HEAVEN MY FRIEND. “DIAMOND” JIM LYON/BARBARA

Our thoughts and prayers are with Charlotte and the family. “Pappy” and I have been friends for many a year and we shared many laughs together. I will continue to smile every time I think of “Pappy”. The night of “Pappys” passing, we went outside and Barb mentioned how bright the stars looked. I told her it was because “Pappy” was there and he made it a brighter place with his prescence. If the word “friend” was looked up in the dictionary there would be no word description, just a picture of “Pappy”. We love ‘ya’,

DK1 & Barb

We finally did it and I know you had something to do with it. I knew that when we lost you the Red Sox gained a powerful friend in heaven. After 86 years the curse is reversed, and I can just see you now with the Babe in headlock laughing about it. I miss you and love you Grandfather.
