Kip Alan Moen passed away unexpectedly in his home on March 5, 2015 in Chesapeake, VA at the age of 34. Kip is survived by his wife Shianne Moen, his son Logan Moen both of Chesapeake, VA, daughters Kathleen and Theresa Moen of Whitesboro, NY, his parents Barbara and Neil Van Patten of Remsen, NY and Kit and Rosemary Moen of Sumter, SC, his sister Christa Moen of Remsen, NY, his brother Matthew Millson of Sumter, SC, his in-laws Jana and Corey Hagel, Dan and Lori Ell, brother-in-law Zack Hagel of Bismarck, ND and countless relatives and friends. Kip was born on September 15, 1980 in Lewistown, PA to Barbara Yetter and Kit Moen. He graduated from Remsen Central School in 1999. He found his passion serving his country in the Navy as a Quartermaster for 8 years, stationed in San Diego, CA and Norfolk, VA. He sailed on the USS John C. Stennis and USS Harry S. Truman. Kip served shore duty in Port Operations at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. He was also a responder in Louisiana for Hurricane Katrina of 2005 and the Gulf of Mexico for the cleanup of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill of 2010. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he married Shianne Ell on August 11, 2012 and moved to Chesapeake where he began working as a contractor in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. The highlights of Kip’s life were his 3 children, Kathleen, Theresa and Logan. He was very proud to be a father and always wanted the very best for them. Regardless of the distance, his first thoughts were always of them. Always motivated by adventure, he was an avid Jeep and zombie enthusiast and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He loved watching his Steelers, Yankees and Penn State Nittany Lions games. Kip was a great man that was easy to make friends with. He had a big heart and often made great personal sacrifices volunteering his time to help his many friends and family.
I am very sorry for your loss. Kip was a great friend of mine that I met off of the jeep wrangler forum. We met up and a friendship started there. Had quite a few adventures together and he was there for me when I left and came back from my deployments. I was there for him when he needed my help and it was always returned. I will definitely miss you Kip but you will always be in my heart and while I’m driving my Jeep! Fair winds my brother!
Please know that you and Logan are in our thoughts and prayers. With deepest sympathy, Cecilia J. Zaharia – Assistant Principal Georgetown Primary School
Sending my love and prayers to all. May God keep you wrapped in His arms of love.
Shianne and family, you have our sincere sympathy at this difficult time. May Kip rest in peace until that final day when God takes us all home to be together again with our loved ones. God Bless
Shianne, Logan, and Kips Family, We are so sorry for the loss of your loved one. Kip was very dear to us also and we will truly miss that smiling face. We got to spend time with him at Christmas and show him what silly huggable people we are when we get together and he truly enjoyed it!! He got to meet lots of family who all enjoyed meeting him also. And then again for Grandma Wolfs funeral. He was such a wonderful person. So caring and loveable. Kip, We will miss you so much and our hearts go out to all of you during this tough time in your lives. Know that one day we will all be together and see him again. All our love, Grandma and Grandpa Hagel
We enjoyed your friendship and personality. We hope you are at peace. Our prayers are with your children and family.
