I just heard and I’m so, so sorry. To Linda, I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through. The loss of a child is like no other. To Keiko, I’ve thought about you all so much. Miss you tremendously! Being a twin, I know this is terribly hard for you, too. Losing the other half of yourself. To his fiance, I’ve not had to lose anyone like this, again, I can’t imagine the grief you’re feeling. And to his daughter, so much sadness knowing you’ll never know what a great guy your dad was. To Bennie, I know that last few years have really been tough, but know, regardless, your dad loved you very much and was very proud of you – even if he didn’t tell or show you. He was. Please, all of you, know that Kev is better now, without pain and suffering. You just KNOW he’s up there trading stories with Dale … keeping him entertained as he did with all of us! Probably asking advice. Probably asking what it was like to win the Daytona. Probably asking to drive his car – try on his firesuit – or better yet – race Dale around that oval in the sky!! Please take comfort in all of this! He loved racing, he loved his kids and he loved his family and friends. Kevin loved life. Kevin loved. I’m grateful for knowing him and for giving him a bit of his dream. Getting him his first car and the start he’d always wanted. I still see that ornery smile, the twinkle in his eyes, hear the laughter in his deep, raspy voice. I miss you all and I’ll miss Kevin. May God bless you and give you the comfort and guidance you need every day, every week, every month and every year from here on out. You’re all so special and so was Kevin. Love always, Gina SanFillipo Doughty

My deepest sympathies to the entire family. Like many others that have signed the guestbook I have a lot of memories of the boys from Gravel Hill and high school. I actually saw Kevin not that long ago and I am glad we had the chance to catch up a little. He was very proud of his family…all of you. He was as funny and spirited as ever. I hope you keep that smile and his love of life close to your hearts. Prayers for all of you.
