HILL, Kenneth Donald Sr, of Wheeling, WV, died Friday December 19, 2008 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born November 3, 1931 in Wheeling, a son of the late Robert E. Sr and Thelma Snodgrass Hill.
He was employed by Maroon Enterprises of Bridgeport, OH, for 32 years as a land developer and property manager. Among his many accomplishments, he was instrumental in the development of the Imperial Plaza in Bridgeport, OH.
Worked tirelessly with community leaders and will always be admired and respected as “Kenny Hill”.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Parish for over thirty years, loved to travel, golf play cards, and spend time with his family and friends.
He had a creative mind and was a skillful debater in politics, a master oil painter and woodworker.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Joan Joseph Hill, one daughter, Debbie Wood of Wheeling; a granddaughter Alisha Marie Foley and her husband Dave of Cleveland, OH; and a very special great grandson, Mason Xavier, a grandson Aaron Christopher Wood and Jaclyn Miller of Wheeling; one son Kenneth D. Hill Jr and his wife Lynda Norman Hill of Columbus, OH; two granddaughters, Lauren Michelle Hill and Kristen Marie Hill of Columbus; his ninety six year old mother-in-law, Josephine Joseph, a sister Linda Roman and husband Chuck, a sister-in-law, Beverly Hill, a sister-in-law, Delores and her husband Al Cinque Felix of Wheeling; sister in law, Louise Stocking of Wheeling; sister in law Clara Malone and husband Mike of GA; a brother in law Ron Joseph and wife Roberta of Fla.
Many loved nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews to whom their lives were touched by his unconditional love, Brent Hill and family, Cheryl Maltese and family, Dana Stocking as well as so many others loved and cherished nieces and nephews.
His newly ordained nephew, Deacon Robert Joseph will be assisting in celebrating the Mass.
Most importantly, in his final days, he renewed his faith in Jesus Christ as his savior.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 22, 2008 at Noon at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
In addition to flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the American Lung Association, St. Michael’s Building Fund or the YWCA Family Violence Prevention Program by request of the family.
