Josephine M. Sofka Bruno, 78, of National Road, Wheeling, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, in the Wheeling Hospital.
Josephine was born March 19, 1923, in Stanley, Ohio, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Tempka Sofka.
She was a retired manager for the Steel Crete Federal Credit Union, Beech Bottom plant; and was a member of St. VIncent de Paul Catholic Church, Elm Grove.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bruno; a brother, Stephen Sofka; and an infant brother.
Surviving are a daughter, Michele E. Bowman and her husband Robert R. of Elm Grove; a sister, Mildred Wardle of Wheeling; a brother, Michael Sofka of Wheeling; three grandchildren, Robert R. Bowman Jr. and his wife, Ella of Indianapolis, Indiana, Russell A. Bowman of Eugene, Oregon and Richele R. Anderson and her husband, Eddie of Wheeling; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Sunday, August 12, 2001, from 12-3 and 7-9 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 13, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St. VIncent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Lacrosse as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, WV 26003
