Josephine Economou
Chesapeake – Josephine Economou, age 73, of 408 Butterfly Drive, Chesapeake, Virginia passed from our world into God’s arms on Monday, the 10th day of August 2009. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Bridgette Cinelli.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are Josephine’s children, Angelo Economou, Peter Economou and his wife Melanie Economou, and Andrea Mills and her husband Bruce Mills; her grandchildren, Christina Waters and her husband Garrett Waters, Andrew Mills, and Jonathan Economou; and her great-grandchildren, Michael and Stefanie Waters.
Josephine’s love for family and friends was an inspiration. She enjoyed cooking, babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bingo, and being with her friends and family. She particularly loved her summers at the family summer residence in Old Lyme, Connecticut and later in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
A special thank you is extended to her numerous caregivers.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral with V. Rev. Seraphim Poulos and Rev. Constantine Rogakos officiating.
A Trisagion Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd in Virginia Beach. The family will remain until 9 p.m. to greet friends. Condolences may be offered to the family at altmeyer.com.

I just found out today of Josephine’s passing and am so sorry I could not attend her service. She will always be remembered as a beautiful lady who absolutely adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. There is no better legacy than to be the World’s Best MOM and Josephine certainly fit that honor. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you process your loss and cherish your memories.
Angelo, Peter, Andrea and family…our thoughts and prayers are with you today and always. There are so many people me included that are so envy of your family love and devotion. The memories, love and laughter of your mother will help you through all the days to come. May God Bless you and your family.
Donnie and I have all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We’ll never forget the good times and great food that we all had together at Mrs. Economou’s house on Briarfield!!

Im sorry to hear the loss of your mom she was very special to me she always had a smile on her face when she didnt feel good. i will miss her dearly and i will keep your family in my prayers.
