OBITUARY NOTICE

Josephine Chambers
Age 90

Josephine Chambers, 90, formerly of Woodbine Avenue, East Liverpool, Ohio passed away at Garden City Hospital in Michigan on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, following a brief illness. She was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on July 21, 1916, a daughter of the late Joseph and Emily Mills McDowell.

Living her entire life in the area, until moving to Garden City, Michigan in 2003. Mrs. Chambers retired in September 1977 from the Homer Laughlin China Company in Newell, WV, where she worked as a decorator in #6 Under Glaze Dept. for 30 years. She was a member of Older Americans, The Jolly Sixties, Honorary member of International Brotherhood of Pottery and Allied Workers and attended the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool for many years. For the past three years, she was a member of Garden City Church of Christ.

Her husband, Walter B. Chambers, whom she married on July 27, 1935, preceded her in death on January 26, 1982.

Mrs. Chambers is survived by two daughters, Nancy Goddard and her husband, Dan of Garden City, MI and Patricia Hoban of Youngstown, OH; a brother, Thomas McDowell of Panama City, FL; two sisters, Doris Swiger and Peg Shasteen, both of East Liverpool, OH; 5 grandchildren, Randy Goddard and his wife, Kelly of Novi, Michigan, Kirk Cook of Youngstown, Patrick Bittner and his wife, Ronnie of Dayton, OH, Allen Bittner of Arizona and Jim Cline of South Carolina; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud McDowell and Bill McDowell; three sisters, Julia Camaioni, Betty Pelley and Barbara Krafft.

Services will be held at the East Liverpool Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 1:30 PM with Evangelist, Will Montgomery of St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery.

The family will be present to receive friends at the East Liverpool Chapel, today, Friday, September 1, 2006 from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM

Dear Nancy and Dan and family,

We are so sorry of the passing of your mother. So was such a wonderful, kind lady.

I called my mom today and told her.

She is really devastated at the news.

She said that Josephine was her very best friend all of her life and she is deeply saddened.
