SAMOL, Joseph, 79, of Wheeling, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at home.
He was a retired employee of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 83, Wheeling, and an Army veteran.
He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling; a past member of Bridgeport Eagles. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren fishing and gardening and time spent with his brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Casimir and Katherine Kenzora Samol; a niece, Mary Kay Samol and a nephew, E. Martin Samol. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Stubock Samol; two sons, Robert J. Samol of Wheeling, and Thomas C. Samol and his wife, Anne of Wheeling; two brothers, Emil Samol and his wife, Helen of Wheeling, and Henry Samol of Moundsville; three grandchildren, Michelle Samol, Grant Samol and Brian Samol, all of Wheeling.
Friends received noon-2 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling. Vigil services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. Patrick Condron officiating. Entombment in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
