NOLL, Joseph R., 85, of Mozart, Wheeling WV, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Bishop Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling. Born in Wheeling on October 22, 1922, Joe was the son of the late Edwin H. and Catherine Callan Noll. He was the former Chief of Police for the City of Wheeling, a lifelong member of St.Alphonsus Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Carroll Council 504,
Wheeling Elks, Past President of the Cave Club, a member of the Governors Committee on Crime and Delinquency, Past President of the Fraternal Order of Police, and served as the Director of Security for the WV Racing Commission. Joe was a First Sgt. in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Irene C. Lisak Noll in 1989 and one brother, Thomas Noll in 1998. Surviving are one son, Edwin F. Noll and his wife Judy of Wheeling; one daughter, Deborah Rettig and her husband Bill of Wheeling; one sister, Anna June Noll of Wheeling; two grandchildren, Joseph Noll and his wife Wendy of Grafton WV, and Jennifer Todd and her husband Greg of Richmond VA; four great grandchildren, Jocelyn Jellison of Blairsville PA, Madelyn, Charlotte, and Catherine Todd of Richmond VA; four step grandchildren, Dr. Bill Rettig and his wife Barb of Centerville OH, Dr. Deborah McKee and her husband Dave of Rolla, Missouri, Todd Hager of Bridgeport OH, and Jenna Hager of Wheeling; six step great grandchildren, Brittney Rettig of Austin TX, Jacob, Connor, and Madison Rettig of Centerville OH, Emma and Anne McKee of Rolla, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street Wheeling, WV on Sunday, July 20, 2008 from Noon to 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. I’m sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Your lucky you had him in your life for so long and now….have wonderful memories.
